Nanaimo Airport New Terminal Building
The expansion of the Nanaimo Airport will build a stronger platform for economic growth on Vancouver Island, improving service and reliability, and generating new economic development opportunities moving forward. Since 2006, the Nanaimo Airport Commission (NAC) and staff have worked hard on a number of major projects to establish a solid foundation for future growth. These building blocks included Flight Path Protection, Runway Extension Business Plan, Safety Management System, Instrumental Approach, Environmental Management, Highway Access and Equipment Upgrades.
The measurable return from the expansion project will be a significant increase in air travel through the Nanaimo Airport. By improving service and reliability, the Nanaimo Airport will ensure it is an economic generator now and in the future.
Phase II – Terminal Expansion (2010 – 2011)

- New pre-board waiting room which will be large and comfortable
- Open and efficient security screening area
- Enlarged baggage arrival area
- Flight Info Display screens and TVs
- Free wireless for your convenience
- Ample Check-in and waiting areas
- Outdoor patio added to the Cafe
- Expanded parking lot
- New Maintenance Building
- Septic and water system upgrades
